• Livadox 10mg Tablet reduces the production and accumulation of bile in the liver.
• It also reduces liver inflammation, thereby improving liver function.

Side Effects of Livadox 10mg Tablet

• Stomach pain
• Feeling tired
• Itching of the skin
• Thyroid hormone irregularity
• Dizziness
• Fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
• Pain in the mouth and throat
• Constipation
• Dry skin
• Dryness, irritation, redness, crusting, or drainage of the skin (eczema)
• Rash
• Pain in joints
• Swelling in the hands and feet
• Fever

Rare: Stop taking Livadox 10mg Tablet and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

• Severe itching (pruritus)
• Worsening of liver problems (symptoms include swelling of the stomach area due to fluid build-up, yellowing of your skin or white of the eyes, black, tarry, or bloody stools, coughing up or vomiting blood, or your vomit looks like coffee grounds, mental changes such as confusion, sleepier than usual or harder to wake up, slurred speech, mood swings, or changes in personality)
• Severe symptoms such as stomach-area pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or weight loss, new or worsening fatigue, weakness, fever, chills, light-headedness, less frequent urination

Obeticholic Acid can be taken with or without food. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose. Do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your liver function and bilirubin levels periodically while you are taking this medicine. Eat a healthy balanced diet low in fat and exercise regularly to prevent gallstone formation.

Indication

• Livadox 10mg Tablet is used to treat primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in adults.
• PBC is a chronic condition where the bile ducts in the liver are progressively damaged.

Pharmacology

Livadox 10mg Tablet, a Farnesoid X receptor agonist, helps improve liver function by reducing the production and build-up of bile in the liver and also reduces inflammation, thereby aiding in the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis.

Dosage & Administration of Livadox 10mg Tablet

Indication for Adult Tablet Primary Biliary Cholangitis: Used for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in adults in combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) when there is an inadequate response to UDCA for at least one year. Can also be used as monotherapy in adults unable to tolerate UDCA.

Starting Dosage and Titration: For noncirrhotic or compensated Child-Pugh class A patients:

• Starting dose: 5 mg orally once daily
• Dosage titration: Increase to 10 mg once daily if an adequate response isn't achieved after three months, provided the medication is being tolerated. Do not exceed 10 mg per day.

For Child-Pugh class B or C, or patients with a prior decompensation event:

• Starting dose: 5 mg orally once weekly
• Dosage titration: Increase to 5 mg twice weekly (at least 3 days apart) if an adequate response isn't achieved after three months and the medication is being tolerated. May titrate to 10 mg twice weekly.

Administration Instructions: Take Livadox 10mg Tablet as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew it. The correct dose and duration will be determined by your doctor based on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

Interaction

Before taking Livadox 10mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• Bile acid-binding resins such as cholestyramine, colestipol, and colesevelam (used to lower blood cholesterol levels)
• Theophylline (used to prevent and treat wheezing)
• Tizanidine (used to relieve the stiffness and restriction of muscles)
• Warfarin (used to prevent and treat blood clots)

Contraindications

Do not take Livadox 10mg Tablet if you are allergic to Obeticholic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The little human data on Obeticholic Acid consumption during pregnancy is insufficient to establish a drug-associated danger. There is no information on Obeticholic Acid's presence in human milk, its effects on breastfed infants, or its impact on milk production.

Precautions & Warnings

The following are examples of clinically significant reactions:

• Adverse Reactions to the Liver
• Pruritus Severe
• Low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol reduction (HDL-C)
• For patients with such issues, specialized monitoring is required.
